Empower Flow

Providing dignity and menstrual supplies to schoolgirls in Kenya — because no girl should miss school because of her period.

Support Our Mission

Our Mission

Empower Flow's mission is to help overcome obstacles to the education of African youth and future generations. A critical first step of this work is removing the barriers to education for girls by addressing the challenges that are unique to them. From this core service, we will expand to provide more schooling supplies to girls as well as to boys. In the long-term, we seek to collaborate with other efforts to provide access to education for all.

Why It Matters

In many parts of Kenya, girls miss 4–5 days of school every month due to lack of menstrual products. Over time, this leads to:

Something as simple as a pack of supplies can change the entire trajectory of a girl's life.

What We Do

💜 The Founder's Story

I grew up in a family where we were taught to give to others without expecting anything in return. As a young teen in school, I witnessed how often "that time of the month" disrupted the schooling of so many young women.

Too many face ridicule, shame, and embarrassment for having this healthy bodily process. Staying home due to lack of supplies has imposed an unnecessary cycle of absence that damages the education and potential prospects of each emerging generation.

As a youth, I could do nothing about this problem, but I shared the little that I could and I made a promise to myself that when I grew up I would make sure no girl had to go through that experience in my home town.

Many years have now passed, and I am finally able to make a difference by starting this community-based charity out of my own pocket. With delivery help from my nieces, across two distribution events, I have been able to provide 305 young women with pads.

Potential when we work together

With your added generosity, we can continue to provide such supplies in my hometown and beyond. Whether it is just once, or in recurring donations, please join me in this journey and give whatever you can.

By covering the administrative costs of this charity, I can assure you that 100% of contributions go directly to purchasing and distributing these supplies to these youth, who deserve to have no barriers to their education.
